There are really four ways people end up starting their ACCA journey and which one applies to you depends almost entirely on what you have already completed.
Route 1: ACCA After Class 12
This is the standard route and the one most Indian students use. If your Class 12 results meet the subject and grade requirements you can register directly and begin from the Applied Knowledge level.
Route 2: Foundation in Accountancy (FIA)
If your results do not meet the standard bar or you come from a background that does not tick the usual boxes this route through the Diploma in Accounting and Business is open to anyone 16 or older. Once you complete it you move straight into the ACCA qualification at the same point a direct entrant would.
Route 3: ACCA After Graduation
Graduates enter through the same routes as everyone else but usually pick up exemptions on some Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills papers based on what they studied.
Route 4: ACCA With Professional Qualifications
Candidates who already hold qualifications like CA or CMA often qualify for a stronger set of exemptions since a large part of their existing syllabus already overlaps with ACCA's.
Entry Route | Eligibility | Starting Level | Exemptions |
