Understanding the EA Credential
Before pursuing the title of EA, it's crucial to understand the importance of this course. As provided by the IRS, the EA accreditation is highly respected in the tax industry. It offers the title of Enrolled Agent, who is an internationally valued expert tax practitioner. An EA's main duty is to represent taxpayers before the IRS regarding tax issues. However, the job role of this tax professional is not limited to this representation and involves the following:
- Represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service Board.
- Overseeing basic finance and accounting operations according to the tax law.
- Conducting tax audits regularly to ensure tax compliance.
- Prepare tax returns reports and documents for an organization or client.
- Ensuring compliance of an organization's or client's operations with tax codes.
- Future tax planning.
- Finding ways to reduce taxes by calculating deductions without breaking any rules.
Candidates must pass all three parts of the Special Enrollment Examination (SEE) to achieve the EA designation and become a tax expert. The EA test consists of three distinct sections that evaluate your knowledge of tax matters.
