What is the CMA Qualification?
CMA is an acronym for Certified Management Accountant. This certification is provided by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and it is aimed at accounting and financial management from the viewpoint of business decision making. CMA USA’s content is different from credentials that emphasize heavy audit, compliance or taxation, including budgeting, performance management, cost management, financial analysis, risk management and investment decisions.
There are two parts to the CMA exam:
- Part 1 – Financial Planning, Performance & Analytics
- Part 2 – Financial Management in Strategic Perspective
CMA USA is not to be confused with CMA India. They are separate professional qualifications run by separate organizations.
The certification may be of interest to students and professionals interested in corporate finance, management accounting, FP&A, financial analysis, and strategic finance.
