A Quick Look at Both
CA stands for Chartered Accountant, and the course is run by ICAI in India. There are three levels to pass, plus roughly three years of articleship, where you work under a practising CA. It’s a grind, and plenty of students end up taking longer than planned. The reward is that the title counts for a lot in India. Take statutory audit: in India, only a CA is allowed to sign it.
ACCA started in the UK. The name is short for Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. To become a full member you need to clear thirteen exams across three levels, and also complete about three years of relevant work experience. Where it really shines is recognition. Employers in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia and Africa know it well.
