CPA Exam Difficulty: Why People Find It Tough
Part of the trouble is the amount you have to cover. Each section has a huge syllabus, and you need to remember it, apply it and do it under time pressure in a four hour sitting. The second reason is that it is a US exam written in American terms. If you have studied Indian accounting you will meet things like US GAAP, US tax rules and US business law that you may not have seen at all.
The third reason is how it is scored. You do not need 75 percent of the questions right. The score is scaled, and a section is passed at 75 on a scale of 0 to 99, so it is hard to know how you did when you walk out of the hall.
Still, the cpa exam difficulty level is better judged by pass rates than by stories on social media. A scary story tells you about one person on one bad day, while a pass rate tells you about thousands of people.
