If you are 18 years old, you can pursue the ACCA course. Students are required to meet the following requirements for the ACCA program:
ACCA After 12th
- For those who've finished 12th grade, a combined mark of 65% is needed in subjects like accounting. Subjects, including English and mathematics, are taken into consideration.
- The aggregate score should be 50%, combining the other subjects for an interested candidate looking forward to qualifying for the specific eligibility criteria for ACCA.
ACCA After Graduation
- If you are a commerce student with degrees such as BMS, BBA, and BCom, you can sit for the ACCA exams and put your worries about completing the ACCA course to rest.
- Likewise, graduates who pass out of esteemed universities with B.Sc. or BA degrees can pursue the ACCA program, provided they finish the foundation diploma ACCA course, which is the minimum skills required.
This is the ACCA eligibility after graduation requirement.
ACCA after 10th
- There are three levels in the ACCA exam.
- However, if you are a student who wants to pursue an ACCA course after completing your 10th studies, ACCA offers another level called Foundation in Accountancy that needs to be completed before you apply.
- If you are from a non-commerce background, the same rule applies to pursuing the course.
If you pursue non-FIA (Foundation in Accountancy) routes in ACCA, you have to clear three levels:
- Knowledge Level
- Skill Level
- Professional Level.
There are 13 exams spread across these three levels, and you must complete them successfully to qualify as an ACCA member.
ACCA After CA
Qualified accountants in India may be eligible for up to nine exemptions out of the thirteen papers in ACCA, depending on their prior qualifications.
This can help them directly progress to the advanced level, and they only have to clear four papers. This way, they can bypass the long-drawn process, saving time and energy in attaining the ACCA membership and gaining global recognition.
It is also possible for CA IPCC Students (Foundation and Intermediate) to get exempted from having to sit for five separate subjects.
You can get holistic knowledge as a finance professional with experience as a CA combined with the global curriculum knowledge of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Your internship in CA following IPCC Group 1 can also be regarded as work experience for ACCA. ACCA has a pass percentage ranging between 40% and 50%, while the passing rate of CA is tougher, at 40%.
Number of Exemptions
Keep in mind that you can be awarded up to 9 Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams to pursue ACCA. However, when it comes to Strategic Professional Exams, no exemptions are awarded.
As a candidate, you must remember that when you are seeking exemptions, depending on the number of papers you are bypassing, you need to pay a cost to ACCA Global. ACCA offers exemptions, but not for free.
