Who Is An EA?
First and foremost, let's understand who an EA is. Simply put, an Enrolled Agent (EA) is a tax specialist authorized by the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) Board. The IRS entrusts them to manage a spectrum of tax-related responsibilities, from crafting tax strategies to representing clients in IRS audits and appeals. Their scope of work can be easily divided into three segments:
- First is individual taxation, which deals with tax laws related to individuals.
- Second is business taxation, which deals with the various business tax laws.
- Third are representation, practices, and procedures, which list the correct procedures for dealing with the IRS.
The good part is that the Special Enrollment Examination is also segmented in the same way:
- Part 1: Individual Level,
- Part 2: Business Level,
- Part 3: Representation, Practices, and Procedures
This structure makes it convenient for students to study and excel in the exam. And with two years to clear the levels, students have ample time to access the exams. Yes, it is as simple as it sounds; all you need is focused study and unwavering determination to realize your dream of becoming an EA.
