Certified Public Accountant Eligibility Criteria?
The US has 55 jurisdictions, including the 50 states, from where you can earn a US CPA license. The basic requirements you must fulfil include:
Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
Have a minimum aggregate in accounting and finance or a relevant field.
If you are pursuing a BBA, Bcom, or MBA course, you must have accounting and finance as subjects.
Hold membership (of any 1) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), or the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).
Complete the exam syllabus and clear four papers with 75% aggregate marks in 18 months to qualify for the CPA certification.
Meet the 150 credit hours for the CPA course semester to be eligible for writing the exam.
Note: An important criterion for landing US CPA jobs is that you must be proficient in English, as the CPA exam is not held in any other language.
